When Jim Augerot and Michael Impey established the Romanian Studies Group (RSG), as it was known in 1973, they envisioned it as a way of bringing together North American academics with an interest in Romanian language and culture. Now an international organization with a global outreach, the Society for Romanian Studies (SRS) is much more than that. Our activities, publications, prizes, social media sites, and institutional partnerships are designed to allow members to share their knowledge and skills with each other and with the wider world.
With its ever-larger membership, outreach to students and young scholars, and diversified activities, the Society is well positioned to become an indispensable resource for all those who study, write and teach about Romania, Moldova, their cultures, minorities, and diasporas. This website strives to be your gateway to the world of Romanian Studies. Please join our Society, and tell us your thoughts, news, and ideas by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Let us know what projects you’re involved in, what you’d like to see here, and how we might improve.
Welcome to the Society for Romanian Studies!
